The Mvskoke Waters Gallery proudly announces its opening as the first tribally owned art gallery in the Tulsa metropolitan area with its inaugural exhibition, Mvskokvlke: Road of Strength. This exhibition reflects the enduring journey-shaped by history, community, and the strength passed down through generations. The Muscogee people have always moved forward with resilience, carrying our identity, traditions, and sovereignty with us.
This exhibition highlights the many ways Mvskokvlke continue to uphold our sovereignty-not just politically, but through culture, language, and art. Each piece speaks to our existence and the deep connections we maintain with the land, our ancestors, and one another. Despite forced removal, assimilation policies, and repeated attempts to erase our presence, our traditions and stories continue to thrive, carried forward with intention and care.
Mvskokvlke: Road of Strength is both a reflection and a celebration of where we have been and a reaffirmation of who we are today. It is a reminder that we are still here, sovereign and strong.
As the inaugural event of the Mvskoke Waters Gallery, this exhibition marks a significant moment for the Muscogee Nation and Muscogee artists. It provides a platform to share our stories through art that honors our past while shaping our future. This gathering of artists and community is not just an exhibition but a statement of presence, creativity, and strength that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Including works by over 20 Muscogee artists, the exhibit’s co-curator and Muscogee artist himself, Bobby C. Martin, says working on this gallery has been, “… an honor and a labor of love. The Muscogee Nation has long been known for its abundance of amazing artists, artisans and makers. The opening of the Mvskoke Waters Gallery marks the start of a new chapter in giving voice and opportunity to our artists.”
The Mvskoke Waters Gallery is located at the Riverwalk Crossing in Jenks and the official grand opening featuring the inaugural exhibit, Mvskokvlke: Road of Strength, is set for Saturday, December 13, 2025.
